The first chain NBX will operate is zkSync Era.

Zk Sync Era is currently one of the most widely used protocol on Zero-knowledge rollup, a trustless layer 2 protocol that uses cryptographic validity proofs to provide a scalable transactions and enhanced security of blockchain networks. (need to add a few more lines on technical superiority of zkSync).

With an expectation of becoming one of the leading Ethereum layer 2 networks, zkSync is has gained a lot of attention and showing phenomenal growth from the beginning. TVL has reached over $150 Million in less 3 months of launch and is continuously rising. It’s daily trading volume exceeded $10 Million and now ranked top-10 in all chains, chasing right behind the existing juggernaut L2 platforms Avalanche and Solana.

Given its early stage, there’s no dominant player on the zkSync Era network. Most popular protocols on zkSync are simply a replicate of existing swap dex or lending protocols hard-forked from L1 legacy platforms.
